Two-Hand controls are used to keep an operator’s hands out of the danger zone on presses and many other repetitive machine operations. However, there are a couple of requirements on these systems that we see violated on a regular basis. According to ANSI B11.19 Section 10.8:
- Buttons must be at least 21.65” apart.
- Both buttons must be actuated within 500ms of each other.
Since these are mainly used in repetitive applications, we like to add the third requirement of an ergonomic design.
