Are your Two-Hand Touch controls up to standard?

Two-Hand controls are used to keep an operator’s hands out of the danger zone on presses and many other repetitive machine operations. However, there are a couple of requirements on these systems that we see violated on a regular basis. According to ANSI B11.19 Section 10.8:

  • Buttons must be at least 21.65” apart.
  • Both buttons must be actuated within 500ms of each other.

Since these are mainly used in repetitive applications, we like to add the third requirement of an ergonomic design.

Banner Engineering’s Two Hand Control Run Bar makes it easy to guarantee you have the proper distance between buttons.

This system uses ergonomically designed finger touch buttons.

And when it is combined with a Two-Hand safety relay, it meets the ANSI B11.19 standard.

If you have Two-Hand Touch systems, we would be happy to take a look at them to make sure they meet the ANSI standard.
