We regularly integrate safety sensors, interlocks and guarding on older machines and we often encounter machine controls that were never intended to support modern safety devices. One of the best tools we have when facing a challenging machine guarding upgrade is the Banner Engineering SC10 Hybrid Safety Controller. It is cost effective, easy to program and versatile.
Cost Effective:
Consider a typical machine with an e-stop, coded magnetic sensor and light curtain. Previously, you would need three safety relays to properly protect this machine. For the cost of two safety relays, you can use a SC10 instead.
Easy to Program:
The free programming software utilizes intuitive icon based drag and drop programming.
Versatile:
- Two 6 amp relay outputs. This allows you to have independent safety zones on a machine. It also allows you to control safety contactors directly. With the solid state safety outputs (OSSD) often found on safety relays and controllers, a separate device is frequently needed to convert the solid state signal to a relay output.
- Ten inputs, including four that can be used as non-safety outputs to turn on a signal light, for example.
- Built-in industrial ethernet two-way communication. This enables 256 virtual non-safe outputs and 80 virtual non-safe inputs for functions like reset, on/off, cancel off-delay, mute enable, etc.
- SC-XM3 external drive for fast swap and quick configuration without a PC.
