OSHA Compliance Audits

Business owners, managers and other stakeholders are required to provide a safe work environment for employees. The general duty clause of OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1910 requires you to provide a workplace free of recognized hazards.

In addition, workplace hazard assessments are required by law under 1910.132(d)(2) “The employer shall verify that the required workplace hazard assessment has been performed through a written certification that identifies the workplace evaluated; the person certifying that the evaluation has been performed; the date(s) of the hazard assessment; and, which identifies the document as a certification of hazard assessment.”

At Bulwark we offer a full range of assessments to make sure you are in compliance with OSHA and more importantly to be sure that everyone goes home safe from work.

Level 1: Our team of specialists are happy to visit you in person or virtually to discuss the safety challenges you face and provide solutions. We will conduct a walk and talk meeting in order to visualize your immediate safety hazards from a surface level. After we visit, you will receive a proposal containing a description of the solution(s) we recommend, pricing, and professional installation costs if applicable.

Level 2: Compliance Audit with Report: Our Licensed Machine Safety Specialist will conduct a compliance assessment of your machine based on ANSI B11.19 standards and OSHA standards. Risk level scores will be developed for each hazard, along with a report containing photos of identified hazards, or areas meeting standards. We will also provide specific guidance and clear safeguarding recommendations. Each hazard will be assessed based on:

  • Degree of possible harm
  • Probability of occurrence
  • Possibility of avoidance
  • Frequency/Duration of exposure

Level 3: Functional Safety System Compliance Assessment with Report: A task-based machine risk assessment is a team based approach to risk assessing machines. First, our Licensed Machine Safety Specialist will visit your facility, where we will work with your team of operators, managers, maintenance professionals, safety professionals, engineers, etc. to understand your operational, process and maintenance needs. As a team we will identify and evaluate each hazard based on:

  • Degree of possible harm
  • Probability of occurrence
  • Possibility of avoidance
  • Frequency/Duration of exposure

Drawings, electrical schematics and technical details will also be evaluated by qualified professional engineers. Engineers will be reviewing the functional safety design/drawings, and determine if the functional safety system is Cat. 3, PL d (“control reliable”) as required by RIA 15.06. The report also includes our observations and findings from the drawing/design review. Risk level scores will be developed for each hazard, along with a report containing photos with specific guidance and clear safeguarding recommendations.
